Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Docket POS (the app, referred to as Docket) handles information. Docket is a point-of-sale app used by restaurants, cafés and takeaways to run their counter. It is operated by [Legal entity name] (we, us).
What Docket handles
- Store setup: the pairing between a tablet and a store, plus store, tax and display settings entered on the device.
- Staff PINs: used to sign in between orders. PINs identify a staff member to the till, not a personal account.
- Order and sales data: items, modifiers, totals, payment method (cash or card), tabs, refunds and end-of-day figures. This is the merchant's business data and syncs to the merchant's own backend account.
- Optional customer fields: if staff choose to add a customer name or phone number to an order, that information is entered by the merchant's staff and held in the merchant's account. It is not required to take an order.
- Diagnostics: basic technical and crash information to keep the app reliable.
Payments
Card payments are processed through an integrated EFTPOS terminal provided by a payment provider. Docket does not store full card numbers. Cash payments are recorded in Docket as amounts only.
How information is used
- To run the till: take orders, take payment, print receipts and kitchen dockets.
- To sync orders to the merchant's account, including orders taken offline once the connection returns.
- To provide sales and end-of-day reporting to the merchant.
- To keep the app secure, stable and working.
Who the merchant is
The restaurant, café or takeaway using Docket is the controller of its own order data. Docket provides the software that stores and syncs that data to the merchant's account. Questions from a customer of a venue about their order should go to that venue.
Sharing
We do not sell information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run Docket, such as the EFTPOS payment provider and hosting for the merchant's account, and where required by law.
Retention
Order and sales data is retained in the merchant's account for as long as the merchant keeps their account, subject to the merchant's own settings and legal record-keeping obligations.
Security
Docket is device-bound to one store and gated behind a staff PIN between orders. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information.
Children
Docket is a business tool for staff at a venue. It is not directed at children.
